Hi, I’m Aryn Rasmussen, a single mom to two amazing kiddos–a sharp and witty ten-year-old daughter, Ava, and a sweet and charming two-year-old son, Caleb.
Like many, I have struggled with debt, discipline, and the seemingly endless cycle of living paycheck to paycheck. When I was younger, I didn’t truly understand the consequences of getting into debt. That naivety led me to constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul until I suddenly found myself in a very, very deep hole I had no idea how to dig myself out of.
I’ve spent the last several years learning about budgeting, debt repayment, and saving strategies. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge, but I’ve lacked the discipline and accountability to make any real progress. That changes now.
I am on a mission to pay off $135,000 in debt (yes, you read that correctly), build a fully-funded emergency fund, and create a future of financial stability for my family–all while doing my best to single parent a pint-sized version of myself, complete with my attitude and sass, and chasing after a toddler who sprints like he’s training for the Baby Olympics. May the odds be ever in my favor.
This isn’t just about money–it’s about breaking the cycle of financial irresponsibility and slavery and building a legacy of prosperity, peace, and possibility.
This blog is my space to document the ups and downs of my journey. I’ll share the tips, tools, and strategies I discover–and the lessons I learn along the way. My hope is that this space becomes a source of encouragement for all of us fighting for financial freedom.
Are you on a similar journey? What challenges are you facing? Share your story in the comments, and let me know what topics you’d like to see covered. Let’s support one another as we work toward a brighter future.

Good for you, Aryn! We too were in a ridiculous spending pattern and had a bunch of debt, mostly credit card due to the trap of “we want it now” syndrome and the addiction related to grandiosity. Dave Ramsey’s program helped me to understand the WHY behind our actions of emotional-spending, and the steps to gain financial independence. These days, I want to pinch myself when I see the debt gone and the brokerage account value at a number I thought was never possible. Stay with it, as the results will be amazing, not only financially but emotionally!
I love Dave Ramsey! Financial Peace University is what started it all for me. That is so awesome to hear that your own journey was so successful. Stories like yours give me the hope and encouragement I need to keep going!
